LICENSED & INSURED

All gutter contractors doing business in the state of Michigan have to be
alteration builders license for that specific trade according to the
"Occupational code" (Articles 1-6, 24) P.A. 299 of 1980.

Hiring an unlicensed gutter installer.

Hiring an unlicensed gutter installer can be a costly mistake even if their
quote is less than that of a Licensed professional (average gutter job is
around $700.). Saving a few dollars always sounds good to all of us but
when hiring a company or individual to work on your home, that same
alleged savings can quickly turn into hundreds and in many cases
thousands of dollars in unnecessary costs.
Most businesses that are not Licensed most likely are not insured with
either liability insurance not to mention workers compensation to protect you
from liability. These insurances are relatively inexpensive compared to the
possible claims by injured workers, damaged property do to accidents, or
improper installation and poor safety practices to mention a few.
Local Building inspectors/State inspectors can and will ask to see a
companies license while working on a project. If it is found that the
company/individual is not the actual home owner and is not a Licensed
builder, the inspector can issue a stop work citation on your project
leaving you with an incomplete installation and you could be out any money
you have paid during the process.

An unlicensed contractor has no legal right to compensation.

An unlicensed contractor has no legal right to compensation of any kind
under the laws of the state of Michigan. Services can not be
bartered/traded for rent to a landlord, vehicles, other services...etc, in lieu
of legal tender in an attempt to circumvent the law.

License MUST be available upon request

Any contractor that does not automatically present his/her license whether it
be in their advertising or in person should raise a red flag.
A contractor's license must be presented when asked for and must be in all
marketing (name of the company must match the license) and can be easily
confirmed by accessing the LARA link  and clicking on check a license:
